HQ recently announced a bunch of penalties for a lot of the top athletes. The list includes the following well-known names:
- Samantha Briggs – lack of extension during the ground-to-overheads and single-foot jumps during the burpees
- Cédric Lapointe – lack of extension during the ground-to-overheads
- Frederik Aegidius – single-foot jumps during the burpees
- Aaron Rabin – lack of extension during the ground-to-overheads
- Dane Smith – single-foot jumps during the burpees
- Luka Vunjak – single-foot jumps during the burpees
- Lazar Dukic – lack of extension during the ground-to-overheads
You can read the official announcement here. The most common reason is “single-foot jumps” over the bar or “lack of extension” during the ground-to-overhead. A lot of the athletes also received a penalty for a “false start”, because the workout description states:
This workout begins with the barbell on the floor and the athlete standing tall. After the call of “3, 2, 1 … go,” the athlete may pick up the barbell and perform 8 ground-to-overheads then 10 bar-facing burpees for 10 rounds.
from the Workout Description
There is a lot of noise about the burpee standard, the revived HSPU standard of the last couple workouts. The most recent penalties are only for 20.1, which is already 3 weeks behind us. HQ does seem to have a hard time to catch up on time, so expect more penalties coming in after video reviews of 20.3 are done…
