Who is going to the CrossFit Games 2019?

It’s easy to miss important updates of the CrossFit Open, the sanctional events and all the surrounding events that take place in the CrossFit Games season this year. To help you out and get a quick overview if your favorite athlete already reserved a spot to the CrossFit Games 2019, we will compile a list of individual men and women who already got an invite to the Games.

This page will be updated whenever a sanctioned event is complete or something else comes up.

If you spot a mistake or if you feel like one of the points need more clarification, make sure to get in contact.

First let’s talk about the winners of the sanctional events – or the fallback tickets that others got after everything settled down. Names marked cursive are fallback tickets, so the athlete didn’t win the sanctional event, but because of the National Champions or the Open Top 20 got a ticket to the Games anyway.

10 Replies to “Who is going to the CrossFit Games 2019?”

  1. what happens if an athlete gets a ticket from a sanctioned event and is national champion? does the invite go to whoever came 2nd at the sanctioned event instead?

    1. Yes, the invite goes to the next runner-up of the sanctional event. You can get a short summary of the backfill process at https://www.elitefitnews.com/2019/01/28/how-to-earn-a-spot-to-the-crossfit-games-2019/.

This page is updated after a sanctional events ends to reflect the backfill positions. This year is confusing because the Open is supposed to end before all the sanctional events, which would make the backfill process for the sanctionals easier to understand.

  2. There are 40 places in man division for the games.

How the national champions affect those place.
There is too many peoples : 20 from open, 15 from sanctional.

Does it mean the 5 best of the national champions ?

    1. No, there really will be so many people at the Games. There is an elimination on day 1, which also serves as a seeding for position on day 2. At least that’s what public at the moment, unfortunately actual news on the Games 2019 are rare. 😑
